About TransHub
We are proud to bring you TransHub, ACON’s digital information and resource platform for all trans and gender diverse (TGD) people in NSW, our loved ones, allies and health providers.
This platform is an initiative from ACON, NSW’s leading health organisation specialising in community health, inclusion and HIV responses for people of diverse sexualities and genders. In April 2019, ACON released the landmark document, A Blueprint to Improve the Health and Wellbeing of the Trans and Gender Diverse Community in NSW.
One of the key priority areas that emerged throughout our extensive consultation process was the need for clear and easy information about gender affirmation and health for trans and gender diverse people in NSW.
Welcome to TransHub!
First up, make sure you watch the video on this page. Acknowledging Country is important.
Then, check out our note on language.
TransHub uses the terms ‘trans’, ‘transgender’ and ‘trans & gender diverse’ as umbrella terms for a population of people whose gender is different to what was presumed for them at birth and we mean all people of diverse gender experiences, or those who are not cisgender.
We explicitly seek to include not only women and men who are trans, but also non-binary, genderqueer people, Sistergirls and Brotherboys, agender people, transsexual people, and anyone else whose labels aren’t listed or known to them yet.
TransHub offers the information that many of us so desperately needed, but didn’t have access to as we grew up or grew toward our most authentic selves.
You’ll find information about social, medical and legal affirmation, as well as health and support resources. We’ve also included lots of information to support allies and clinicians. You can also check out our language guide, and our download hub for more information and resources.
TransHub also shares resources to help you advocate for yourself and the people around you, and these have been written by, and in collaboration with, trans and gender diverse people in NSW, Australia. Check out out the downloads section of each page, as applicable, to make use of any of the templates we’ve developed to assist, all templates can also be found in the downloads hubs.
While a lot of the information on this platform will be relevant in other states and countries, we recommend you check with a local LGBTQ+ organisation with any questions. Find out more information about ACON here.
TransHub is dedicated to the trans women, trans men and non-binary people who came before, who led the way, who were lost too soon. To those who struggle and to those who thrive, to those who are yet to know their true selves, or to be known by others. We deserve to be proud.
TransHub was developed on Gadigal land and we collaborated with colleagues who work across the lands of the Awabakal, Barkindji, Bundjalung, Dharawal and Wurundjeri peoples. ACON acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands and waters upon which we operate throughout Australia, we pay our respects to Elders, past, present and emerging, and honour the unbroken connection and ancient expertise First Nations peoples hold on country, across water systems, and the living environment.
ACON reminds visitors to TransHub that we always are, and always will be, on unceded Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land. We also acknowledge all First Nations people visiting TransHub, particularly Sistergirls, Brotherboys and all other trans and gender diverse First Nations people.
TransHub could not have been developed without the contribution and collaboration of many individuals and organisations.
Thank you:
Firstly, a special thanks to all the trans and gender diverse people who have trusted us with their experiences as we have shaped TransHub. We could not have done this without you and nor would we have wanted to.
